Done Right — The First Time

I'm Christy McLeod-Milton Eliser — McLeod-Milton is my middle name and Eliser is my last name. If you know me, you might still know me as Christy McLeod-Milton! I married in 2023 and my name changed to Eliser. I was born and raised in Destrehan, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans, eventually made my way to Covington, and spent years building a career as a Med-Surg Nurse before hitting the road as a travel nurse across the Pacific Northwest.

Travel nursing took me far from home, but it showed me just how resilient I could be. I worked Med-Surg floors in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Lynnwood and Spokane, Washington, and St. Helens, Oregon — long shifts, high-stakes decisions, and caring deeply for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives. That discipline, that attention to detail, that care — it never left me.

Nursing shaped everything about who I am. The precision, the commitment to showing up for people, the "no one falls through the cracks" standard — those values followed me every step of the way. I may have traded scrubs for casual clothing and a calculator, but the heart behind the work has never changed.

Then COVID-19 changed everything. Like so many healthcare workers, my health was affected in ways that made returning to the hospital floor a risk I could no longer take. I needed to find a new way to serve — one that kept me connected to people and allowed me to keep helping, just in a different way.

So I came home. I settled in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi — a place that finally felt like where I was supposed to be — and I brought that same care team mentality with me. I transitioned into accounting and bookkeeping with the same precision and commitment I gave my patients. The same systems thinking. The same dedication to making sure nothing gets missed.
